Every girl needs a gay boyfriend.
Long before queer eyes tried to improve the straight guys, gay men had a girl's best interests at heart. After all, who else is going to stop a girl from dating a loser, spending her money on tragic home décor, or turning into her mother? Dave Singleton has dissected more "smart women, foolish choices" than Ann Landers, Dr. Phil, and Carrie Bradshaw combined. Now, based on stories from real women and decades of experience counseling and consoling female friends, Dave dishes out his 25 most unfailing, uncompromising pieces of advice, including:
Follow your bliss, but remember this: You're not going to meet an eligible, straight man at cooking class
Being spontaneous does not apply to your hair! Why you must stop getting drastic, funky hairstyles after a bad day or before an awards show
Are you wasting your time and perfume? How to tell if a hot prospect plays for your team
Don't ask, don't tell your date: The 10 things that only your gay best friend needs to know

Customer Rating: Summary: I Wish I'd Gotten it in College Comment: If only I'd had this in college. Oh my God, I would have saved some time by NOT focusing on a few loser men. Seriously, this is just my new favorite book! I am either laughing like a crazy girl or seriously evaluating the guys in my life a lot differently. I could have lived without the chapter on shopping, but otherwise, it's incredible how many fantastic and witty topics are covered, mostly on dating and relationships but do not miss the chapters on hair style as a barometer for a girl's emotional health, a gay guy's take on some typical girl hurdles, and some fun insights on throwing parties and things like that.
Customer Rating: Summary: Pleasantly Surprised Comment: I wasn't sure whether I would like this book. The truth is that I purchased it out of curiosity. What I found was pleasantly surprising - not only is it a very, very fun read (I stayed up late reading it and had to call my friend at midnight, laughing over Chapter 7), but there were many similarities between my own single woman life that had me in hysterics and, yes, once even in tears. If a book about dating/ relationships/life, from a gay man's point of view toward a woman, can be really funny and oddly comforting, this is it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Overdue and totally applicable to my life Comment: The author has really tapped into something great with this - what I took away from this book and will continue to remember is that there's something incredible about a gay boyfriend in your life. He's just the best and different from any friend I have. The author's advice is awesome: in his unique way he points out things that I either knew and ignored or didn't know and missed -about men, relationships, life, style. Read it and laugh and relate. It's the next best thing to a cool gay guy hanging out with you for the day.
Customer Rating: Summary: It's About Time. Fab. Comment: I would be nothing without my gay male friends! And they would be nothing without me, and they know it, too. Finally a book about this topic. I loved it. I bought three for my friends. It's funny without being nasty. It's insightful without being cornball. It's warm, hot and cool all at the same time. Fab.
Customer Rating: Summary: My New Dating Bible! Comment: I got this after a friend recommended it after reading the author's column on Match.com. It's fabulous and makes me miss seeing my gay friend who moves to Los Angeles more. You are guranteed to feel a little too familiar with some of the scenarios in this book. It covers dating and relationship scenarios in details, and you feel like he's talking just to you. Plus there's stuff on other thing too like style. Very funny and surprisingly educational.
